Purpose
To ensure that programs and services meet the real-life needs of children and youth, it is critical that organizations create meaningful opportunities for children and youth to help plan, implement and evaluate them. Ready…Set…Engage! helps service providers, educators and mental health professionals:
- reflect on the ways that young people can create positive change in their schools and communities through collaboration and the development of youth-adult partnerships
- create meaningful youth engagement within a community, organization or agency using handy and practical checklists
- learn about effective practices and strategies for initiating and sustaining meaningful youth engagement
Background
Ready…Set…Engage! is a product of The New Mentality, a youth-led initiative co-supported by the Centre and Children’s Mental Health Ontario. It is based on a comprehensive literature review, surveys of Ontario organizations interested and involved in youth engagement and a series of interviews and focus groups with both professionals and youth.
