IMPORTANT NOTICE ABOUT THE CENTRE’S 2010-11 GRANTS AND AWARDS The inaugural contract among the Provincial Centre of Excellence for Child and Youth Mental Health (the Centre), the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) and the Ministry of Children and Youth Services (MCYS) comes to an end in March 2010. While the Centre will enter into a new contract with MCYS in 2010-11, we are currently unable to commit to funding new projects in the next fiscal year. As a result, research grants and training awards have been temporarily suspended while the Centre and MCYS work together to renew the Centre’s mandate and identify ways to build on our significant accomplishments. Current award recipients are not affected by this funding interruption, and should continue to carry out their grant-related activities. Read more... The Post Doctorate/Fellowship Awards competition is now closed for 2008-2009. Purpose Post Doctorate/Fellowship Awards aim to support the development of scientist practitioners in the area of child and youth (0-18 years of age) mental health. This award is not restricted to any one discipline of mental health training or sector of mental health practice. Value of the Award Maximum of $60,000 a year. Terms of the Award Post-Doctorate/Fellowship Awards normally start on July 1 and run for one year. Awards not taken up by September 1 will be forfeited. Awards are paid in installments and administered by the successful applicant’s sponsoring organization/institution. The number of awards presented in any given year will reflect the number of suitable candidates and the funds available at the Centre. Eligibility Criteria – Mentor A mentor must hold an academic appointment at an accredited university within the province of Ontario. He or she must be engaged in areas of investigation directly related to child and youth mental health and that meet the mission and strategic directions of the Centre. Applicants please note that the quality of the mentor’s research environment is evaluated in the application. Thiss suggests that the quality of the mentors’ publications, research grants, etc. is carefully examined by reviewers during the adjudication process. Applicants are encouraged to discuss this with their mentor(s) and/or graduate coordinator prior to submitting the application. |
