IMPORTANT NOTICE ABOUT THE CENTRE’S 2010-11 GRANTS AND AWARDS The inaugural contract among the Provincial Centre of Excellence for Child and Youth Mental Health (the Centre), the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) and the Ministry of Children and Youth Services (MCYS) comes to an end in March 2010. While the Centre will enter into a new contract with MCYS in 2010-11, we are currently unable to commit to funding new projects in the next fiscal year. As a result, research grants and training awards have been temporarily suspended while the Centre and MCYS work together to renew the Centre’s mandate and identify ways to build on our significant accomplishments. Current award recipients are not affected by this funding interruption, and should continue to carry out their grant-related activities. Read more... The Graduate Awards competition is now closed for 2008-2009. Purpose Graduate Awards aim to build capacity in the area of child and youth (0-18 years of age) mental health with a focus on evidence-based knowledge and practices. This award is not restricted to any one discipline of mental health training or sector of mental health practice. Value of the Award Maximum of $20,000 a year. Terms of the Award Graduate Awards normally start on August 1 and run for one year. Awards not taken up by September 1 will be forfeited. Awards are paid in bi-annual installments and administered by the successful applicant’s sponsoring organization/academic institution. The number of awards presented in any given year will reflect the number of suitable candidates and the funds available. Eligibility Criteria – Mentors A mentor must hold a full-time academic appointment at an accredited university within the province of Ontario. He or she must be engaged in areas of investigation directly related to child and youth mental health and that meet the mission and strategic directions of the Centre. Please note that the quality of the mentor’s research program, as evidenced by publications and research grants, is carefully examined by reviewers during the adjudication process. Applicants are encouraged to discuss this with their mentor(s) and/or graduate coordinator prior to submitting the application. |
