About the Centre > Governance

The Centre works in close collaboration with and receives advice from four committees that represent our key stakeholder groups.

The Advisory Council includes senior representatives from diverse sectors such as mental health, child welfare, education, developmental services, youth justice, business, and government. It provides advice on:

  • Strategic directions
  • Partnership funding allocation
  • Key partnerships
  • Communication strategies
  • Outcome measurement and evaluation

The Service Providers Reference Group (SPRG) is comprised of “front-line” representatives from diverse sectors including mental health, addictions, child welfare, education and developmental services. It provides advice on:

  • Existing gaps in research and practice
  • Project development and implementation
  • Knowledge translation for relevant stakeholders
  • The impact of the Centre’s activities on service providers
  • The impact of the Centre’s activities on children, youth and their parents and caregivers

The Consumer and Advocates Network (CAN) includes adults and youth who have experienced the child and youth mental health system – as consumers, parents, caregivers and advocates. It provides information and advice regarding:

  • Innovative ways of addressing problems and issues faced by consumers, parents and caregivers
  • The needs of consumers and communities of care
  • Ways in which service delivery can be improved
  • Public education strategies
  • Evaluation of the Centre’s impact on children and youth and their parents and caregivers

The Research, Initiatives, Training and Education Committee (RITE) is the adjudicating body for all peer-reviewed funds and also assists the Centre in:

  • Identifying priority areas for peer-reviewed funds
  • Developing Requests for Proposals (RFP) and Requests for Applications (RFA)
  • Reviewing and evaluating submissions for peer-reviewed funds

Sponsorship

The Centre receives funding from the Ontario Ministry of Children and Youth Services. The Centre is accountable to the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) Board of Trustees. CHEO is a teaching hospital affiliated with the University of Ottawa.
